If you’re planning a trip to Egypt, you’re probably at a loss for places to go. There is so much to do in Egypt and so many fantastic places to visit. While the pyramids of Egypt may have gained great notoriety throughout the years for their historical significance, they are by no means the be-all end-all of Egyptian travel. Egypt has developed many accommodations in their most popular cities that rival some of what we have here in the United States. So, if you’re looking for the best experience you can have in Egypt, one of the greatest places to start would be Sharm El Sheikh.
Sharm El Sheikh is a city located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. It’s on the coastal strip and has a population of about 35,000 people. Of the many things to do here, diving is one of the most sought after. The diving trips here are absolutely incredible, offering diving trips for both the beginner and advanced. Sharp colors, amazing undersea drop offs, as well as sharks and barracudas. If you’ve never gotten a chance to see these water dwelling wonders up close, you’ll be amazed. They glide through the water like a hot knife through butter and show you the meaning of true grace. If you’re the type who likes to dive alone, then you may consider one of the diving spots that are off the beaten path. The most popular spots are always crowded with divers, and getting the chance for some seclusion isn’t much of a possibility.
Four wheelers are also very popular in this area, as there is a lot of trails and places to ride. The city of Sharm El Sheikh capitalized on this and created amazing riding areas for tourists and natives alike. Parasailing is also very popular. Parasailing is done through towing someone with a boat across the water until they gain enough speed to take flight. The person taking flight is equipped with a parachute known as a parasail, hence parasailing. It’s a lot of fun and quite safe, despite the looks of it. The incredible aerial views can be pretty breathtaking, as you get to see the entire city of Sharm El Sheikh from above.
Horseback riding is also immensely popular here, and the coastal strip provides perfect trail riding adventures. Especially for newcomers to this wonderful city, you’ll be amazed at how much it reminds you of high class tropical resorts. Egypt is quite warm anyway, and cities that are a part of the coastal strip are nothing less than legendary.
Sharm El Sheikh has grown immensely in it’s popularity as a tourist locale over the years. As of the present day, it is one of the fastest growing tourist locations in the world, and for good reason. The weather is wonderful, the ocean is right near by, and the amount of things to do have grown to incredible proportions. There is a wide range of popular resort hotels that are alive with the feeling of bliss.
People looking for the more traditional side of Egypt, the places with the pyramids and what not, should look to a different city to visit. Sharm El Sheikh is almost completely devoted to tourists and the vacation style way of life. You won’t find any mummies, Egyptian tombs, or towering pyramids, just fun, sun, and relaxation.
